Reverend Jo Mc Ateer
I work with couples who are looking for a professional celebrant. I guide each client to create a fresh and unique ceremony. I have been a celebrant for many years and I was delighted to be ordained as a One Spirit Minister in July 2021. Ministry has given me so much joy as I develop a connection with the family or couple and get to know them affording me the opportunity to give them a more personal experience reflecting their own beliefs and wishes. I offer non religious, semi religious, spiritual, mixed faith and same sex ceremonies and non binary ceremonies that are fun, meaningful and above all most memorable. I am a Gaelic speaker and am happy to include some Irish into your ceremony on the day
Offered services:
* Wedding ceremonies
* Funeral ceremony's
* Baby Naming ceremonies
* Vow Renewal
WHAT IS A WEDDING CELEBRANT?
Deciding who will help you say ‘I do ‘is one of the first steps in the wedding planning process, and whilst Priests, Registrars, Celebrants and Humanists may be familiar terms, many are unsure of the difference between them all. I'm happy to guide you and help you with these decisions.
It is the paperwork that makes your wedding legal – not the ceremony. I am fully registered on the Register of Solemnisers in Ireland.
A typical wedding format can include
Music
Opening welcome
Reading/ poem
Family candles
Your personal story
Exchange of Vows and rings
Exchange of rings
Lighting the unity candle
Signing of the register
Hand blessing
Sand ceremony
Hand Fasting
Ceremonies are typically between 30 and 40 minutes.
* All couples regardless of where they are getting married, must contact the HSE and give them a minimum of 3 months notice of their intention to be married, this is a very straight forward process – the registration fee charged by the HSE is €200
What is a Funeral Celebrant:
Its been a privilege to work as a funeral celebrant for over 10 years, my family have been undertakers for over 50 years and this was a natural fit for me. I work closely with Woodbrook Natural Burial ground, Funeral homes, and crematoriums, helping family's say goodbye in a fitting and meaningful way to their loved one.
We prepare the eulogy for the deceased, select music that was important and relevant to the deceased, we select poems, readings and prayers, we discuss any religious or spiritual beliefs held by the deceased and find a way to reflect those beliefs within ceremony as we hold sacred space to celebrate their life in a fitting and meaningful way.
We offer time for silent reflection on how our lives intertwined and affected each other.
We share stories and memories
We share photos and items of relevance
We celebrate the life lived and mourn its loss
Baby Naming ceremonies
This is a beautiful way to welcome a new baby to the family and its family community. The saying it takes a village to raise a child is very true and this ceremony encourages all the family to take part.
We find ways to celebrate baby's arrival, to officially bestow baby's name, and we celebrate baby's arrival and the love and joy that their arrival has brought not just to the parents but the extended family.
I have a number of songs, poems, prayers and ceremonial extra's ie tree planting, memory boxes etc which we incorporate into a special ceremony for a special day.
For further information on any of the above, please don't hesitate to contact me directly on the number or email address below
